I'm Colin. AI consultant. Over 40. Was made redundant about 18 months ago from a data science role when AI changed what my company needed. Instead of pretending that wasn't a gut punch, I rebuilt around the technology. Now I advise companies on AI strategy, which means I sit in the rooms where they decide who stays and who goes.

This guide is what I wish someone had given me before it happened. Not a course. Not a motivational talk. Just the practical stuff: what to do, what to say, what tools to learn, and what your rights are if it goes sideways.

I wrote it because the advice out there is mostly rubbish. Either it's “just upskill” from people who have never been made redundant, or it's doomsday content designed to get clicks. Neither of those is useful when you're lying awake at 2am wondering if your job will exist in 18 months.
